This project seeks to address the issue of human rights violations in Angola, through the production of a film on the current human rights situation and conditions in Angola focusing on civil and political liberties as well on the social, economic and cultural rights of the excluded and impoverished citizens and communities.
The main goal of the project is to contribute to the reduction of human rights violations in Angola, with a particular focus on social, economic and cultural rights through visual information and images.
OSISA will provide a grant to the Centro Cultural Mosaiko - an organization that is part of Roman Catholic Church. The Mission of Mosaiko is to contribute to the establishment of a culture of human rights in Angola, through research and the promotion of initiatives designed to foster the integrated development of Angolan society. This project will run from July 2011 - June 2013 and aims to: - Encourage local community initiatives and participation in the production of the film; - Increase and contribute to communities' and citizens´ knowledge about human rights principles and values; - Increase awareness and stimulate local initiatives around human rights protection; - Focus attention on violations of social, economic and cultural rights; and, - Lobby the government and parliament to enact better public policies and plans to improve the human rights situation.
