In the week before our meeting, the New Dawn reporter had written a story that featured a startling claim: It said up to $4 million had been pledged by Western lobby groups for lawmakers willing to support a same-sex marriage bill in Liberia. According to the story, the effort was being led by the “California-based ‘Foundation for the Protection of Gay Rights’”.

« Ce qui distingue ce groupe de ses semblables (en Occident et au pays) c’est la volonté de compliquer l’Afrique, à savoir embrasser, critiquer et célébrer les parts d’Afrique qui les intéressent le plus. Peut-être que ce qui caractérise le plus la conscience afropolitaine c’est le refus du simplisme, l’effort de comprendre ce qui va mal en Afrique, avec le désir d’honorer ce qui la rend magnifique, unique.
