Mozambique: Japan available to fund Nacala Special Economic Area

Maputo, Mozambique, 21 Feb – The Japanese government, via the Bank of Japan for International Cooperation, is available to provide funding for the the development of the Nacala Special Economic Area, a government official said in Maputo Tuesday. The pledge was reiterated during a meeting in Maputo Tuesday, which included representatives of the JBIC, the Center for Promotion of Investments and the Office for Economic Areas with Rapid Development (Gazeda). Danilo Nala, The coordinator for Gazeda told journalists that during the meeting the experiences of Special Economic Areas in several countries, including Vietnam, were analyzed. The Nacala Special Economic Area, which includes the port of Nacala and the district of Nacala-a-Velha, was created via a government decree in 2007.
