EMU policy is designed to guarantee fair access to students from various regions of the country and actively seeks to increase the female presence in the institution. Over the past year, EMU, through its academic staff in the Department of Sociology has been engaged in ongoing discussions with OSISA and the CVPI on how best it can complement the development of the crime and violence prevention agenda in Mozambique.

Through these talks agreement has been reached that the Department of Sociology will host a six-month course in crime and violence prevention for government and civil society officials. The course will use as its basis the recently finalized under-graduate materials on violence prevention developed by the Sociology Department.
