But the most sensitive issue by far is Gukurahundi – the codename for a brutal military operation in Matabeleland in the 1980s that left over 20,000 civilians dead.

Education Coalition of Zimbabwe

Education Coalition of Zimbabwe is a network of civic society organisations working within education sector in Zimbabwe working on advocacy for attainment of EFA goals. The coalition came up with a 2011-2015 Strategic Plan in 2010 as a way of to respond to educational needs in Zimbabwean context. Some of the strategic thrusts include monitoring educational policy formulation and implementation and education financing.

Child Protection Society

Championing early childhood education and development in Zimbabwe is a project initiated by Child Protection Society on behalf of Zimbabwe Network of Early Childhood Development Actors (ZINECDA). The project seeks to establish a network of ECDE actors in Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe currently does not have a network that supports the development of ECDE in the country. This has resulted in fragmented approaches in ECDE and there is a knowledge gap in which ECDE actors do not even know who is working where and implementing what sort of program in the country.

Bulawayo Progressive Residents Association

Bulawayo Progressive Residents Association (BPRA) is a community-based and membership-driven organisation established in 2007 with the view of providing a non-partisan platform for effective residents and stakeholder interaction and participation in local governance. The association composed of 19 member committees in each of Bulawayo’s 29 wards. BPRA is registered as a Trust (MA280/2007) with the High Court of Zimbabwe in accordance with Zimbabwean law.

Stimulus Africa Foundation

Stimulus is a social enterprise established in 2011 in Harare, Zimbabwe with a mandate to positively disrupt the manner in which Zimbabwe and Africa approach entrepreneurship. Its overarching goal is to support private sector development through nurturing entrepreneurship in order to create jobs and improve the lives and communities of ordinary people. Stimuluses core activities centre on three pillars, namely: Training & Business Coaching, Mentorship & Counselling Support and Networking.

Gays and Lesbians of Zimbabwe (GALZ)

Established in 1990, Gays and Lesbians of Zimbabwe (GALZ) is one of the oldest, most established, and respected LGBTI rights organisations in southern Africa. GALZ has managed to continue to exist and even grow over the past twenty-one years, despite operating under some challenging political and socio-economic conditions. While GALZ carries out a range of programming designed to meet the varied needs of the LGBTI population in Zimbabwe, advocacy for the recognition and defence of LGBTI rights, when violated, has always been central to its work.

A traditional hunter-gatherer community, the Doma live on the extreme margins of Zimbabwean society. They play no role nor even have knowledge of the country-wide movement that threatens the very core of the state. Theirs is a daily and painful struggle to survive, totally neglected and forsaken.

Partnering to Provide Second Chance and Inclusive Education to Children and Youth in Zimbabwe

With this pilot, OSISA and World Education/Bantwana are providing a second chance to secondary school aged children who had fallen out of school, while expanding opportunities for children with disabilities.
